One person has been taken into custody after a firearms incident in the Dunedin suburb of St Kilda, police say.
Tedder St was cordoned off from Bay View Rd to New St following the incident, reported about 2.50pm on Sunday, a police spokesperson said.
Armed police were in attendance “out of an abundance of caution”.
Although no injuries have been reported, the public were advised to avoid the area as staff work at the scene.
The cordons was lifted just after 6pm and police said charges would be considered for the person taken into custody.
They thanked the public for their patience.
