Sylvia Woodhouse's imagination has been running wild since she found an old sepia photograph among some papers and sheep in an old Middlemarch farmhouse.

The photo appears to be of a picnic or garden tea party in which the guests are well dressed, some in militaristic uniforms.

The photo may have been taken in the early 1900s but it is not known where.

She rescued the photo from a derelict farmhouse in Middlemarch about 15 years ago.

"It had no doors, no windows and no roof. And there were sheep living in there."

Now, her curiosity has got the better of her.

She is trying to track down descendants of the people in the photograph so she can give them the photo, find out where and when it was taken, and whom it shows.

"I've treasured it. I love old photos and anything to do with history.

"I'm totally besotted by history," she said.

"But I want to give it back because I'm getting old now ... Plus, I'm curious to find out the history behind the photo."

Mrs Woodhouse hoped a relative of someone in the picture could help fill in the blanks for her.
