Rev Vine, speaking to nearly 100 people at the service, said the service celebrated 25 years of the congregation, the 80th anniversary of the church building in North Rd and the 126th anniversary of worship at the site.
The service was the first time a moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand had entered the church in 25 years, he said
"This is an auspicious day.''
