Plants being returned to winter glasshouse

Dunedin Botanic Garden collection curator Stephen Bishop examines a date palm as staff move plants back into the garden's winter glasshouse last week.

Staff have begun replanting the vegetation which was removed during the refurbishment.

Plants would be organised in a "different fashion" to how they were previously, Mr Bishop said.

"Some of the favourites are still here but we've also got some new plants that we've had in propagation houses."

Work included replacing glass, repairing window frames, doors and the outer metal structure, painting, drainage and mechanical upgrades.

Staff were working hard to meet the March 15 opening date, he said.
