The life expectancy of a Plunket Society service supporting women in Dunedin with post-natal depression has been extended even before it starts.
Plunket operations manager for Otago-Southland Barb Long was pleasantly surprised yesterday to hear the soon-to-be-delivered cheque from the AMP Community Fundraising programme was $14,498.40, almost $4500 more than expected.
She expected funding from AMP ($10,000) and the Zonta Club of Metropolitan Dunedin's fashion show ($18,000) would have been sufficient to support the service for two years.
"Really, this gives us another six months. It's great."
The service, which will run from Plunket's family centre in Macandrew Rd from the end of next month, will be available to Plunket clients one day a week.
