Police hunt for masked robber

The search is continuing for the masked man who robbed a Dunedin dairy on Monday afternoon.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Ferguson, of Dunedin, said no new information had come to light in their search for the man who may have been armed with a knife during the robbery of Quarry Store in North Rd.

Inquiries were continuing, he said.

The man entered the dairy at 2pm and threatened a woman who was working alone.

She was forced into the back of the shop. The offender took items including cigarettes, before leaving on foot carrying a cardboard box.

The man was believed to have been wearing a balaclava and dark clothing with a green-coloured top.

Attempts to contact the woman yesterday were unsuccessful.

Det Snr Sgt Ferguson urged anyone with information about the man to contact Dunedin police on 471-4800 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555-111.
