Police say racing "may have been a factor'' in a crash which resulted in a car smashing through a furniture store window on Saturday evening.
The male driver left the scene in a white Honda Civic which was later found by police abandoned in Vogel St, a police media spokesman said.
Police spoke to the driver yesterday and he was assisting with inquiries.
The driver "took the corner too fast'' at the intersection of Crawford and Police Sts and crashed through the window of McKenzie and Willis about 9.50pm.
"It appears as the driver has gone to make a right-hand turn, the vehicle has hit a kerb and lost control,'' the spokesman said.
Police had not able to determine whether alcohol was factor, he said.
A contractor working on the large window yesterday said repairs were likely to cost between $8000 and $10,000.
Initial reports suggesting the driver was located by police after the crash were incorrect.
