Dunedin is to host another music heavyweight after news that pop superstar Pink has announced a concert in the city next year.

The singer, whose hits include So What, Sober, and Please Don't Leave Me, will play Forsyth Barr Stadium on September 1 next year, as part of her Beautiful Trauma world tour.

She will then play two dates at Auckland's Spark Arena (September 4 and 5). The New Zealand performances will follow several shows in Australia.

Pink, known for her dynamic stage shows which feature aerial stunts, last performed in New Zealand in 2007, selling out two shows in Auckland.

The announcement adds to the list of big-name artists performing in the city next year - Roger Waters, Robbie Williams and Ed Sheeran have already scheduled shows, while Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders are performing in November this year.

Tickets for Pink's New Zealand shows go on sale at midday on Friday, October 20.
