Power cuts planned for South Dunedin at weekend

More than 600 households and businesses in South Dunedin will be without power for six hours on Saturday because of lines company Aurora’s pole replacement programme.

The planned outage would affect 672 electricity customers from 9.30am to 3.30pm, Aurora spokesman Gary Johnson said.

Crews would be replacing three poles in Melbourne St. Areas affected bythe outage include parts of Atkinson St, Bay View Rd, Calder St, Fawcett St, Macandrew Bay Rd, Melbourne St, Oxford St, and Young St.

As power could be restored at any time during the outage, electrical equipment and power lines should be treated with care.

Did they send letters to households? Some people need to arrange generator supply for essential equipment. Online advisory the day before is not enough.
