Mr Paulo (28) died at the Otago Community Hospice early yesterday. He married Lafoaluga Paese in an emotional ceremony at the hospice on December 4.
The couple of two years decided only that morning to marry before it was too late, as Mr Paulo had terminal cancer.
Many Dunedin people and businesses donated their services, as well as wedding clothing, accessories, equipment and food for the service, which was attended by the couple's son Benjamin and about 30 relatives, friends and hospice staff.
Mrs Paulo and the Paulo family were grateful for all the support and generosity shown.
