From yesterday to Friday the 384 pupils from 177 different schools are taking part in the Hands-On at Otago programme, back on campus after it was unable to be held in person last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
From dissection and explosions to using medieval manuscripts, participants will get a taste of the range of learning and research opportunities at the university.
Co-convener Dr Lisa Russell said 105 of the participants were on a scholarship enabling them to access the programme, and thanked the staff who made it possible.
"Dozens of staff work really hard, often coming back early from their holidays, to make sure this is a truly memorable week for the students who take part."
