Mrs Bennett said she had not had a whole year away from nursing since her training, in Wellington, starting in 1965. She had been part-time for several years while she had children, and as she got older. She would greatly miss her colleagues and patients.
Before moving to Dunedin, she worked in South Otago, where she was born and raised, after training and working in Wellington and Christchurch. Nursing was much less formal now in practice. However, the training had become more theoretical.
In retirement, Mrs Bennett was looking forward to spending time in the garden, doing craft work, cycling, and travelling.
