Frost (60) has been appointed corporate services manager for Dunedin Venues Management Ltd and will start his new job next month.
It is a shift from one ground to another, and he will bring his long experience with rugby at Carisbrook to the new stadium.
Frost was naturally pleased by the appointment and excited by the potential offered by Forsyth Barr Stadium.
''It's time for a new challenge,'' Frost said. ''It's an exciting prospect for the city.''
ORFU chief executive Richard Reid said Frost had been ''a great servant of Otago rugby and the Highlanders for the past 12 years and we wish him all the best in his new role with Dunedin Venues''.
DVML chief executive David Davies welcomed the appointment.
''We ran a thorough recruitment process and Neville came out on top,'' he said.
''We look forward to the skills and experience he will bring to the organisation.''
Frost, a commerce graduate from the University of Otago and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, spent 17 years with Radio Otago before moving to the rugby union.
Frost started playing petanque with his wife, Stefany, at the New Zealand Masters Games four years ago and he won his second South Island title in Dunedin last month.
He is also one of the province's top bridge players.
The ORFU intends to appoint a replacement for Frost early next year.
