And it was a premiere - the first screening of The Quest, a feature-length movie the school's pupils made.
About 1200 pupils, family and friends waited in anticipation in the Octagon before heading into the Regent Theatre to see the movie, funded through internet site PledgeMe.
About $6000 was raised, and the school community was able to attend the movie free of charge. The Quest follows two pupils who have gone off the rails and their journey through 12 different worlds as they learned about the school's values of kindness, aspiration, independence and keenness.
The main roles were played by senior pupils Georgia Ward (11) and Thomas Greenaway (11). Catherine Mason (11) directed and produced the film.
''I'm pretty excited and scared at the same time,'' Catherine said, as she hit the red carpet.
She loved working on the film as she got to work with everyone in the school.
''I reckon it's going to be awesome,'' she said.
Catherine arrived at the premiere in a limousine with mother Steph Mason, grandmother Valerie Mason and brother Harrison (9).
Principal Simon Clark said the pupils had done an excellent job on the film.
''It shows how clever the kids are.''
Last night was the first time the majority of the school had seen the 75-minute film in its entirety.
The entire school had been involved, from the extension programme which developed the skeleton script, to the ''movie group'' which did the directing and filming.
Each class filmed its own section of the movie, reflecting their interests and interpretation of the values, he said.
