Sisters Jade (9, left) and Erika (10) Fairweather work to raise awareness about the practice of shark finning by participating in a ''finathon'' at Dunedin's Dive Otago Ltd pool yesterday.
The pair raised $100 for the cause and yesterday swam through a hoop for every dollar they raised.
Erika said sharks were ''really cool'' and killing them for their fins was ''not nice''.
''Sharks are like us and they don't deserve to be killed.''
She thought sharks had an unfair reputation.
''My friends are afraid of them and I'm not,'' she said
