Small crowd, no problems at street party

Dunedin's Agnew St keg party has gone off without a hitch this afternoon.

The party kicked off this morning in the student area and was monitored by police.

Senior sergeant Steve Larking confirmed this morning police had rostered extra staff to keep an eye on the party.

More than 5000 people had indicated a month ago they would attend but the crowd ended up being only a couple of hundred.

Police said no arrests were made and people were generally well behaved.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
