Police are calling on all Dunedin residents to be vigilant after another string of burglaries around the city.
Inspector Amelia Steel said 14 weekend burglaries, which occurred throughout the city area, had been reported to police.
The furthest afield was at Henley, while Mosgiel seemed to have been especially targeted and some offences were reported in the student area.
Many involved unlocked vehicles, which was a continuing frustration for police, she said.
''I'm not sure if people are being absent-minded or if they think it's a safer approach to stop their door locks being popped, but we would still advocate locking them,'' she said.
In one case, someone had tried to enter a flat in Castle St through a window during the night. It was not the first time the flat had been targeted.
Insp Steel called on all students and residents in the student quarter to report any suspicious behaviour, particularly cases of people trying to enter flats.
''Report these incidents - it's not on,'' she said.
Anyone with information that can help police was asked to contact Dunedin police on 471-4800.
Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555-111.
Suspicious activity should be reported immediately on 111.
