For most children entering the Rialto in Dunedin yesterday, seeing a menacing looking storm trooper (otherwise known as Warren Goodwin, of Dunedin) left them a little stand-offish, with some preferring to hide behind their parents' legs.
But not 9-year-old twins Ngaio and Kiriana Davidson-Duell.
The recognition of an opportunity outweighed their fears, and they ran up and snapped a ''selfie'' with the storm trooper.
''It was quite frightening to see a real-life storm trooper. They're normally bad guys,'' Kiriana said yesterday.
''But the movies are really cool.''
More than 150 people attended the two-day Star Wars Marathon at the Rialto during the weekend, to celebrate the global Star Wars fan holiday - May 4.
The date was chosen because ''May the fourth'' sounds similar to the series catch-phrase ''May the Force be with you''.
During the marathon, Star Wars: Episode I (The Phantom Menace), Episode II (Attack of the Clones), Episode III (Revenge of the Sith), Episode IV (A New Hope), Episode V (The Empire Strikes Back), and Episode VI (Return of the Jedi) were screened.
