The Caledonian Society Stone Chair has been officially handed over to the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum.
Gathered on and around the chair are (from left) Otago Scottish Heritage Council president Frank Brown and Caledonian Society of Otago directors John Stinson, David Crewe, Jack McLeod, Wayne Allen, patron Ron Cain, Netty Lastovicka and Morgan Hewland.
Museum director Jennifer Evans said the chair was displayed in the DUNedinburgh exhibition last year.
''It's great to have the chair in a place where visitors can sit in it.
''They are most welcome to have their photo taken, too,'' she said.
The chair was carved from a large block of Waikawa granite by James Robertson to mark the Dunedin visit of the future King George V in 1901 and is known as Dunedin's own Stone of Destiny.
This occasion was important but it also gave members of the Caledonian Society of Otago a chance to get together and have their photograph taken with the chair.
Members of the society had a similar picture taken in 1909.
