Suburbs left in the dark

Delta staff were busy again last night working to restore street lights that failed to fire in parts of Dunedin.

The fault in a ripple control plant in Corstorphine meant street lights in the suburb, and surrounding areas, failed to come on with the onset of darkness, a Delta spokesman said.

Some lights, including in St Clair, were restored by mid-evening, but Delta staff were still working on others in Corstorphine about 9.30pm.

It was not yet known if the fault had any connection to last week's issue, when an inner-city sensor failed to signal the city's street lights to power up at the scheduled time.
