The NZ String Quartet, (from left) Helene Pohl, Monique Lapins, Gillian Ansell and Rolf Gjelsten, perform their "Sounds of the Sanctuary" concert to an almost sold-out crowd at Orokonui Ecosanctuary yesterday evening.

The concert was the last of three in Dunedin after the quartet’s mini-residency at the Regent Theatre’s Clarkson Studio, with concerts on Friday, at 7.30pm, and Saturday, at 4pm.

The concert celebrated the beauty of nature and birdsong.

The concerts included works by New Zealand composers Claire Cowan and Leonie Holmes, alongside works from the classical canon by Haydn, Brahms, Debussy and Shostakovich.
