
Mr Dunbar was surprised, telling the audience his first thought was that it was a "hoax", as there were so many talented teachers at the school. Mr Dunbar said he became more interested in teaching as he neared the end of his career, to ensure the next generation of surgeons was well-trained.
The annual awards are determined by the votes of medical students.
