Trees, roads of concern

Trees and roads were the hot topics at the Strath Taieri Community Board meeting last Thursday.

Chairman Barry Williams said pine trees on the side of McKinnon Rd were dangerous and in dire need of pruning.

''They are old trees that are overhanging the road.''

Trucks were travelling in the middle of the road to avoid vehicle damage.

The Dunedin City Council needed to prioritise the work, he said.

Also discussed was how slowly snow was cleared from roads on Hyde Hill and between Hyde and Macraes Flat.

He would investigate the rumoured ''remedy'' that management at Cooke Transport in Hyde had bought a snow plough.

In past snowfalls, the transport company cleared the snow with a loader, he said.
