A police media spokeswoman said nobody appeared to have been seriously injured in the incident that occurred about 7.25pm.
One vehicle, with a badly damaged front bumper remained in the street, while the other ended up in the front yard of a house.
The intersection has been the scene of numerous accidents including at least two last year.
