Two teens charged with theft

Mosgiel police have recovered several items they believe may have been stolen from residents' vehicles over the past month.

Constable Dion Phair, of Mosgiel, said police had received at least 12 reports of break-ins to vehicles in the Mosgiel township in the past four weeks.

Acting on information received, police arrested two 15-year-old youths last week and charged them with theft, Const Phair said.

Several items were recovered which police believed might also have been stolen.

"It is clear that probably a lot more cars have been broken into than we have received reports about," Const Phair said.

People should report incidents, no matter how insignificant they thought they were. Anyone who thought their property might have been recovered should contact the Mosgiel Police Station.

The youths were referred to the police youth aid section.
