Unexplained death in Great King St

Residents in Central Dunedin may see an increased police presence today after a person died in unknown circumstances in Great King St, North Dunedin.

Police said they were notified of the sudden death about 2pm yesterday.

The death was being treated as unexplained, a police spokesman said and a scene guard was in place overnight.

Late yesterday, three police vehicles were seen outside an abandoned property in the street, two people in forensic uniforms were in attendance.

Tents were put up and the footpath blocked off.
