A man remains in hospital with serious injuries after allegedly being stabbed multiple times by a woman he knew, police say.
A 51-year-old woman was arrested on Monday night and charged with the attempted murder of a 53-year-old man.
Emergency services were called to a Westgate, Corstorphine, house at 7.30pm, after reports the man had been stabbed multiple times at the front of the property.
His injuries were not considered life threatening but he remained in Dunedin Hospital, Detective Sergeant Rob Hanna said.
Police were yet to speak to the man, who received multiple stab wounds to the upper torso.
"We have recovered what we believe to be the weapon, although we haven't had that confirmed yet."
He confirmed the weapon was found at another location.
Police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident, he said.
"It was a domestic situation where both parties were known to each other."
The woman left in a vehicle after the incident, but was found by police "a short time later", he said.
Police conducted a scene examination of the site yesterday and as part of their inquiries would talk to residents who might have witnessed the incident.
A 51-year-old woman appeared in the Dunedin District Court yesterday charged with attempting to murder the man on August 27. She was remanded in custody after a contested bail application.
The woman was granted interim name suppression until her next appearance on September 6.
Judge Stephen Coyle also granted interim suppression of the man's name.
