Geese gather around Port Chalmers resident Charlotte MacShean after becoming regulars in her Scotia St neighbourhood.
Eleven geese have been waddling their way up through the neighbourhood from Back Beach for the past eight weeks.
Ms MacShean said her family used to walk down to where the geese were and feed them, but recently the geese had been coming up to Scotia St.
''Every time they appear in the garden, my children scream, 'The geese are here','' she said.
They fed them bread, vegetables and anything from the kitchen.
Most locals were not bothered by the geese being in the neighbourhood, but a few people were upset by the excrement they left, Ms MacShean said.
''Nothing like this has ever happened before and I've lived here for over 20 years,'' she said.
