Woman attacked in Dunedin home

A 31-year-old Dunedin woman has been released from hospital after a man attacked her in her home in Argyle St, Mornington, late last night.

Initial reports suggested three men were involved but police are now looking for two men. It is believed only one of the men entered the house.

The woman suffered facial and other injuries during the 11pm assault, police said.

A Caucasian man and a Maori man, both aged in their 30s, were seen in Argyle St early this morning, Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis said.

It appeared the woman did not know the men.

The woman's two children, aged four and six, were in the house at the time but were unaware of the attack, Mr Croudis said.

The children were now being looked after by friends.

The property has been cordoned off and police were conducting a scene examination today.
