A woman suffered moderate injuries after falling 6m from a track near Portobello this afternoon.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Hatchery Rd about 3.45pm.
A St John spokesman said the 35-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries after falling between 6 and 10m on to the beach below.
She was taken to Dunedin Hospital's emergency department.
A police spokeswoman said the woman was driven down the beach by a four-wheel drive.
They were taken to hospital shortly after 4.15pm, she said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said firefighters from Portobello assisted St John and transferred the woman into an ambulance using a stokes basket.
