A police spokeswoman said they were notified about the incident at Millbrook Resort just before 8pm today.
‘‘Two people have sustained injuries [and] are being taken to hospital by ambulance services.’’
A duty manager at the resort said they assisted first responders at the scene.
The golf cart had ended up in ‘‘a regular ditch on the side of the road’’.
There were only two people in the golf cart at the time, they said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said they responded two crews from its Frankton and Arrowtown stations.
No-one was found trapped when crews arrived and they assisted ambulance staff, the spokesman said.
