A Christchurch man has been charged with murder following the death of Rangiora man Tony John Lochhead.
Mr Lochhead, 51, died and his brother was hospitalised with injuries after an altercation at his White St home on Friday evening.
Police this morning said they had arrested a 36-year-old Christchurch man late last night.
He will appear in Christchurch District Court today charged with Mr Lochhead's murder and the aggravated wounding of his brother.
Detective Inspector David Long said police inquiries were continuing to identify others involved in the incident.
"We are not ruling out the possibility that other arrests will be made in connection with this matter."
Police are continuing to call for any information about people hitchhiking between Rangiora and Christchurch on Friday night.
A scene examination of the White St property was expected to be completed late today.
