A tinnie house metres from an Auckland intermediate school has been raided by police who believe the house was supplying students with drugs.
Police arrested four people during the raid and found thousands of dollars in cash and cannabis at the property in the Auckland suburb of Pt Chevalier.
The raid happened as mothers collected their children from Pasadena Intermediate, a decile 6 school with about 240 pupils, The New Zealand Herald reported.
Uniformed police descended on the property directly opposite the school.
Western Springs College, also nearby, has a roll of more than 1000.
The paper said police broke down the front door of the house and found the main suspects -- a 44-year-old woman and a 47-year-old man.
A middle-aged man and the woman's 18-year-old daughter talked to police as they had their hands handcuffed behind their backs.
Police found several cannabis packages valued at between $200 and $400 each and containers stashed with dozens of prepackaged tinnies valued at $20 each, and other containers which held thousands of dollars in cash, the newspaper said.
Senior Sergeant Rod Salt, the officer in charge of the raid, said it was a concern young people might have been buying drugs from the house.
"They're doing it directly over the road from an intermediate school -- that's one of my major concerns."
