A search resumes in Gisborne this morning for a man whose vehicle was found abandoned at a lookout near the city yesterday.
Police said there were concerns for the safety of Simon Benjamin Ross Eckersley, 32, who was last seen at 6.30am wearing long pyjama pants and a brown hooded top in the Wainui Beach area.
His Volkswagen Passat car was later found at Makorori Hill lookout.
Police said this morning he was not located overnight and a search would continue today.
Mr Eckersley is described as Caucasian, about 1.85m tall and of medium build. He has blue eyes, short to medium length hair and speaks with an Australian accent.
