Police have named the three people found dead in a house on the outskirts of Feilding earlier this week after formal identification was completed this morning.
The three people - who died in an apparent murder-suicide - were Desmond Vincent Winnie, 65, his wife, Deborah Honeyfield, 51, and her father, Ian Ray Honeyfield, 86, police communications manager Kim Perks said.
Police would carry out post-mortem examinations throughout today and tomorrow and continue their examination of the scene, she said
The three bodies were removed from the Lees Road property yesterday, Kim Perks said.
Yesterday police chaplain Chris Martin visited the house to bless those who died and tomorrow he will return to offer a prayer and bless the house.
Police were contacted by a visitor to a house about 10.20am on Monday and arrived to find the bodies.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths and there was no risk to public safety.
Tragedy has struck four times around the small Manawatu town in the past six weeks. The discovery of the bodies comes after last month's still unsolved murder of farmer Scott Guy, 31, and the deaths of pilot Jessica Neeson, 27, and her student Patricia Smallman, 64, in an air collision near Feilding Aerodrome, and this month's death of local soldier Tim O'Donnell, 28, in Afghanistan.
A memorial gathering in the town will take place on Friday after requests from residents.
