A block of three flats has been "extensively damaged" in an Invercargill fire this morning.
Fire communications shift manager Brent Dunn said two fire trucks were called to the fire at 80 Elles Rd and arrived just before 10am to find it "well ablaze".
Initial reports people were still inside the flats proved to be false and four crews were fighting the fire - which was "pretty much out" - as of 10.15am.
A fire investigator had been requested to attend, but it was too early to say what the cause was.
