Police are warning motorists to beware of icy conditions around Waiouru after a number of crashes this morning.
"There have been separate crashes on State Highways One and 49 near Waiouru this morning which are likely to be as a result of vehicles encountering black ice on the roads," a police spokesman said.
"Motorists should exercise caution in these areas or defer travel until later in the day if possible."
