The investigation into three complaints against former justice Bill Wilson have been formally dismissed because of his resignation, Judicial Conduct Commissioner Sir David Gascoigne says.
Mr Wilson resigned from the Supreme Court bench last month, effective last Friday, after a conflict of interest scandal.
It was alleged the judge failed to properly disclose a business relationship with Alan Galbraith QC on a Court of Appeal case on which he was sitting and Mr Galbraith was representing a party. It was alleged he owed Mr Galbraith $242,804. Mr Wilson consistently denied the allegation.
Sir David had been asked to investigate three complaints about the justice's conduct. The High Court set aside his first decision and directed him to address certain errors of law in his decision.
He said today he had completed a draft of his second decision in respect of the complaints when Justice Wilson announced his resignation.
Sir David indicated the day after it was announced that Justice Wilson was stepping down that there was no useful point to continuing the inquiry and today confirmed that the complaints had been dismissed.
