A man involved in a fatal collision near Rotorua yesterday has been praised for pulling a woman and child from the wreckage.
Blair Amundsen, 35, of Kinleith, has been named by police as the victim of a crash involving a fully laden logging truck on State Highway 30 at Horohoro.
Police said the logging truck lost control and collided with the ute Mr Amundsen was driving.
Logs from the truck fell and caused serious damage to a second ute.
Police said the 25-year-old driver of the second ute went straight to Mr Amundsen's ute and pulled his 35-year-old wife and four-year-old son from the vehicle.
Police said the falling logs narrowly missed the cab of the heroic man's vehicle.
Police said an investigation into the crash was ongoing.
