Motorway crash victim named

A man killed in a four-car pileup on Auckland's central motorway junction on June 30 was Petelo Faaeteete, 52, from south Auckland.

Police said delays in telling his relatives of the crash had prevented his name being released until today.

Two other adults were hurt and were still in hospital, said police.

The crash happened on the southbound lanes of the motorway near the Khyber Pass on-ramp about 8.50pm causing considerable traffic delays.

Police said today inquiries were being made about the whether speed or alcohol were contributing factors and it was too soon to say if anyone would be charged.
