Police, Fire and Ambulance are at a house in Woodhouse Street in Linwood where one person has died.
Police and a fire investigator are at the scene to investigate the fire.
The fire in Linwood is the second fatal house fire in Christchurch in recent months.
A fire at a Medina Crescent house in Parklands claimed the life of Corey James Mclean on September 13.
Corey was likely to have been asleep in a back room of the house when the fire started and didn't wake up.
Eight other people managed to get out of the house.
