One dead, several injured in Nth Island crashes

One person is dead and several others seriously injured after separate crashes on North Island roads this morning.

The fatality occurred when a car hit a bridge in Wainuiomata about 5am.

Two other people were injured, one seriously, Police senior sergeant Simon King said.

A single car was involved, and appears to have struck a bridge and rolled, Mr King said.

Earlier, a man was critically injured when his car collided with a parked car on Mt Maunganui's Ocean Beach Rd.

Police said the crash occurred about 4am between Golf Rd and Concord Ave.

Meanwhile, a man was seriously hurt when a car rolled into a paddock at Kingseat in Auckland this morning.

Police said emergency services were attending the scene at Glenbrook Rd, just east of the big roundabout.

The car has landed on its roof in the paddock, and the driver has been cut out and taken to hospital.

The police serious crash unit is investigating all three accidents.
