Two people sustained life-threatening injuries in a two-car crash near Rotorua last night.
Two others sustained minor injuries in the head-on collision on State Highway 30 at Kapenga at about 9.30pm, an ambulance spokesman said.
Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to free one back seat passenger from the wreckage.
All four were taken to Rotorua Hospital.
