A person has been taken to hospital with moderate injuries after a fire engine collided with a small van in Wellington today.
The crash happened on the corner of Owen St and Constable St in the suburb of Newtown about 9.30am as firefighters raced to tackle a big blaze threatening two houses in nearby Berhampore.
The Fire Service said the driver of the van was taken to Wellington Hospital but a passenger was not injured.
A wrecked Toyota Previa-type MPV was seen in the area.
A large house on Adelaide Rd near the local BP station was badly burnt.
