Firefighters appear to have controlled a fire in a mechanical workshop in Colridge St in central Christchurch this morning.
People could be seen from nearby buildings shifting vehicles out of other buildings close to the fire.
The fire started just before 9am and several appliances were on the scene.
Bangs could be heard from the building as firefighters tackled the blaze.
