Serial sex-offender Stewart Murray Wilson has been granted parole.

Wilson appeared before the Parole Board today and was granted parole from a date in late March.

The Board said he would be subject to a number of conditions, including GPS monitoring.

The conditions would be very similar to those that Mr Wilson was subject to when last on parole, the board said.

The full decision would be released on Monday.

Wilson pleaded guilty on November 12 to breaching his parole conditions in 2013. He had been previously released on September 1, 2012, to live in the house on prison grounds but recalled on April 10, 2013.

He was sentenced to six months in prison.

Wilson is serving 21 years after being sentenced in 1996 for sex and violence offences against women and girls, as well as charges of stupefying and bestiality.

He was paroled to a two-bedroom house, which had been moved onto the Wanganui Prison grounds for the purpose in 2012, after serving 18 years.

His 21-year sentence was scheduled to end on December 1 next year.
