A woman was killed after her car collided with a small truck on State Highway 1 north of Wellington this morning.
Police set up road diversions at Pukerua Bay after the crash about 4.30am, but the road has since reopened.
Inspector Paul Jermy of police central communications said the woman died at the scene.
An occupant of the truck received a minor leg injury, while a second occupant was uninjured.
Mr Jermy said the cause of the crash was not yet known and the police serious crash unit would investigate.
