Pandemonium broke out in Canada after a number of vehicles including two buses, a police car and a salt truck slipped into a pile-up after sliding down black ice.
Thousands viewed a video uploaded to YouTube which showed several vehicles slowly colliding into each other as they slid down black ice on a sloped street in Montreal, Canada.
The Montreal Gazette reported the city's street salting staff were out at the affected borough of Ville Marie at 6am. A drop in temperature two hours later caused sheets of black ice to appear in some places in a matter of minutes. Minor emergencies elsewhere meant the order the streets were salted in changed leaving the Ville Marie street without salt.
