Kaikorai Valley College have just celebrated Library Week.
Students were involved in activities each day at lunchtime in the library. These activities were Library Mastermind (a quiz), musical performances in the library during lunchtime, a book review competition and finally a book character mufti day, with the proceeds going towards purchasing books for the library.
We want to celebrate books but also recognise that the school library is a social hub for students. It is not always a place for quiet, it can be a fun and sociable place
The students were very creative in their book character costumes and the musical performances showcased our talented students. The Secret 7's, a group of year 7 girls entertained us with songs and a ukelele accompaniment and Year 10 student Amanda Fiveash sang original songs playing the guitar. We used our staircase for the musical performance like the staircase in the Sound of Music.
