Success at Oceania Swimming Championships

Stefannie Gillespie and Caitlin Deans had great success as part of the New Zealand Swimming team that travelled to the 12th Oceania Swimming Championships held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea recently.

The two Otago swimmers brought home an array of medals between them.

Stefannie Gillespie (23, Zenith Swimming Club) is a five-time NZ swimming representative, and this was Caitlin Deans' (18 Neptune swimming Club) second time representing NZ.

Gillespie has also been nominated as the only Otago swimmer for the upcoming New Zealand High Performance Swimming Awards as Emerging Open Water Swimmer of the Year.

2016 Rio Olympic Coach and former Dunedin Swim Coach Graeme Laing (son of the legendary Duncan Laing) was the Head Coach of the New Zealand team that travelled to Paupa New Guinea.
